Our colleague becomes world champion
Some people are superhuman not only at work, but also in sport. Such as our colleague Péter Takács. As a specialist in bench presses, he has already achieved countless podium finishes at home and internationally, but his recent achievements are outstanding even in this field.
On 6 June 2025, at the WUAP European Championships, he won the European title in the 110 kg Masters category, and also set a new record in his age group with a bench press of 216 kg. This result is not only extraordinary on the continent – it also puts him among the world leaders.
It was not his only major victory last year: he also won a gold medal at the GPC World Championships in October 2024 in Sibiu, Slovakia, this time with 212.5 kg, which was enough to win the category.
During his career, Peti has proven himself under the auspices of several international federations (WUAP, GPC, AWPC/WPC). In addition to his world championship titles, he is a multiple Hungarian champion, and in recent years he has repeatedly placed first in the Hungarian Professional Powerlifting League cups, often with performances above 200 kg. In 2022 he won with 215 kg, and in 2023 and 2025 he pushed the weight above 210 kg, which he pushed in competition.
Many people would never guess that these records are not the work of a professional athlete who spends his days training – but of a man who prepares for these competitions in his spare time, in addition to his job. This is what makes Peter Takács really special.
His tenacity, strength and human attitude are an example to us all. We, his colleagues, are proud of him not only as an athlete, but also as a person – and we are sure that we will have more to celebrate with him in the future.
