RDF WASTE

RDF waste: Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF) is a secondary (alternative, mainly plastic) fuel obtained after sorting mixed municipal waste or residual waste from selective collection. It is used in power plants or cement factories. Thus, waste containing flame retardants, non-combustible waste and waste containing halogen must be filtered out. Among the halogenated elements, chlorine is used in large quantities in the production of plastics, the raw material for PVC – poly (vinyl chloride).

PVC is the third most widely produced plastic. It has good fire resistance, excellent chemical resistance and resistance to corrosion.

The main challenge is to filter out PVC-based plastics from RDF materials.

Comment

After 31 July 2023, RDF – waste for energy recovery – will no longer be freely available in Hungary. This type of material can only be disposed of within the MOHU system. As Loacker is not yet part of the MOHU system, please contact MOHU directly: www.mohu.hu
