Municipal waste
Municipal waste is a larger waste stream, part of household waste.
According to the official definition, household waste is the mixed and separately collected waste generated in the household, including residential, holiday or weekend homes and in the common areas of households, and includes paper and cardboard waste, glass, metal and plastic waste, bio-waste, wood and textile waste, packaging waste, waste electrical and electronic equipment, battery and accumulator waste, and refuse, in particular mattresses and furniture. These materials cannot be placed in the bin because of their size.
The specific definition also stipulates that ‘municipal waste’ is household waste received from the user of the property by the concessionaire company responsible for the public waste management service during the collection of the waste, which exceeds the dimensions of the collection container provided for under the public service part of the waste management service.
Non-hazardous refuse may only be deposited or handed over to the concessionaire during the organised collection of refuse in public areas.
