R+D projekt at Loacker
Technology development for the separation of oily water and skimmings.
Our oil waste treatment technology at our Kiskorpád site was launched through R&D development with non-reimbursable support from the Szécsényi Programme.
In our facility, we treat the skimmings that physico-chemically break down waste emulsions used in metal cutting and cold forming operations that have been discarded and become waste. This produces an oily skimming with a high water content. These, as well as aqueous oils from other manufacturing processes, can be separated and oily emulsions treated, with a significant proportion of oil recovered for reuse. The technology is based on physical separation, whereby oil and water are separated on the basis of specific gravity. In combination with chemical treatment, oil-water emulsions and emulsion breakdown skimmings can be effectively treated and recovered as recoverable oil. The water content of the recovered oil can be reduced to below 10%.
The technology can treat 1500-2000 tonnes of waste per year,
In our country, water content is reduced by evaporation in similar installations. The advantage of the technology we are developing is that the energy consumption is significantly lower and by separating the particulate impurities and sludge-like particles, we obtain almost completely pure oils. So not only do we reduce the water content to below 10%, but we produce an almost filtered oil. This product can be used as a lubricant in bitumen production and in machinery equipment requiring less demanding lubrication.

Based on the terms of the call for proposals, we presented the results of our development in a round table discussion.
